Brooklyn Bridge Park Access Study

Brooklyn, NY

SSE was retained by New York State's Downtown Brooklyn Waterfront Local Development Corporation to develop a transportation and access plan for the future 85-acre Brooklyn Bridge Park. SSE developed recommendations for the park via foot, bicycle, ferry, public transit, and private shuttle bus-virtually all modes except private automobiles. Based on feedback received during the comprehensive community outreach process, SSE recommended significant streetscape and open space improvements for the primary pedestrian gateways to the park and the creation of an extensive network of new bike routes to connect the park to existing bicycling corridors. New York City has since adopted SSE's bicycle route recommendations; all are scheduled for implementation.
