At SSE, we consider traffic engineering to be more than just the science of processing vehicles safely and quickly. It is also the art of devising solutions for access and circulation problems at various scales ranging from regional and citywide to neighborhoods, streets and even individual lots. We use information to guide a problem-solving process for which the goal is to maximize public space, improve pedestrian safety and provide opportunities for intermodal connections. The result of this process is a coordinated plan that results in benefits such as safer traffic conditions, smarter parking strategies, and more efficient use of valuable land.
