SSE has gained a reputation for innovative and practical ways of reconciling the access needs of given sites. Maximizing development opportunities while providing the safest and most efficient access for pedestrians, vehicles, and parking requires a creative process. If there are creative ways to mitigate impacts of a new development, SSE will find and enhance them to serve as amenities of the project. We have been successful in maximizing open space, creating safer pedestrian conditions, and minimizing conflicts with existing neighboring conditions. SSE respects the volumes and geometric constraints of a site but is not held back by them.
In addition to our reputation for traffic engineering expertise, we provide in depth transit analyses. SSE is known for advocating the use of transit and alternative modes of transportation to solve transportation and access problems. We reduce the impacts of vehicular traffic and facilitate bus movement. We encourage the creation of safer and more convenient conditions for pedestrians and bicyclists through the concept of “pedestrian engineering.” We make places more pedestrian-friendly and improve crossing conditions using structures and treatments such as traffic calming and safer crosswalks.
